Jeep Air Intake Systems – AIRAID, K&N, and aFe Air Intakes

Comments 298 Jeep Air Intake Systems – AIRAID, K&N, and aFe Air Intakes
June Voting is Now OpenVote Now

If you’re looking for some significant performance gains, a Jeep air intake system is one of the best. Not only will it increase your horsepower and torque, but it will also improve your gas mileage. For the June vote, choose which air intake you want installed on this 2010 Jeep: AIRAID, K&N, or aFe.

Last month we upgraded the exhaust so we could make sure that all the used air will be taken out of the Jeep as quickly as possible. The air intake system is the second part of this process; before you take the air out, you have to make sure you have the right Jeep parts to get the air in. Having a cool air intake system is incredibly beneficial because cooler air is denser, so more air can pass through the system much faster than before. The more air that gets to the engine to mix the fuel, the more combustion there will be and the more efficiently and powerfully your engine will run.

Choose which Jeep air intake should be installed on the Jeep JK:

AIRAID Cool Air Dam Intake System

The mandrel-formed tubing of these AIRAID intake systems are made with the best materials and top-notch production techniques. In addition to having a larger diameter than stock intakes, each AIRAID intake system is powder coated inside and out for a smoother airflow. This also makes it more durable and long lasting.

Benefits:
  • Up to 30% more airflow over stock
  • Horsepower Gain: 14
  • Torque Gain: 24 lbs-ft
  • Air Filter is washable and reusable

K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit

This K&N intake system has a tube that’s specifically designed to be aerodynamic, and it comes with an oversized conical air filter. It gets more cool air to the engine by using a heat shield, which isolates the cool air from the warm. To back up their product, each air intake system comes with a million mile limited warranty.

Benefits:
  • 26% more airflow over stock
  • Up to 10% increase in power
  • Estimated Horsepower Gain: 8.17 at 4807 RPM
  • Air Filter is washable and reusable

aFe Stage 2 Cold Air Intake System

The aFe Stage 2 intake system traps heat in two ways: with a powder coated heat shield and a heat-insulating molded plastic tube. These work with the conical air filter to provide as much cool air as possible to the engine. Plus, each air filter is made out of 100% polyurethane so it will last through multiple cleaning cycles.

Benefits:
  • 58% more airflow over stock
  • Horsepower Gain: 6
  • Torque Gain: 8 lbs-ft
  • Air Filter is washable and reusable

We’re nearing the end of our contest, but that doesn’t mean we’re overlooking any of the details. In addition to the air filter that you choose, we’ll be installing Bestop HighRock 4×4 Replacement Mirrors as well. These are heavy-duty Jeep accessories that will hold up to the rigors of off-roading.

About AIRAID: Since 2007, AIRAID has been innovating the air filter industry with new and improved products. They’re the recognized leader in air management for both diesel and gas applications.

About K&N: The reusable cotton gauze filter engineered by K&N has revolutionized the industry by making your air filter last longer. This global company is now bringing this technology to consumers around the world.

About aFe: If you’ve got a power-hungry engine, then aFe is the answer. They’ve designed 3 different air intake systems to meet any vehicle’s needs and provide the highest possible performance gains.

Jeepless in Utah, I have owned a few K&Ns before. There good upto million miles, so it’s the last filter you will ever need.

I gotta go with Airaid. I have a ‘93 YJ,4cyl., Stick. And with the intake & exhaust up-grades, I’m diving My ‘lil Jeep wherever I want to go. You just can’t beat the amount of punch You get for Your buck with the Airaid System.
Another nice feature with the Airaid System….No Oils to soak the filter.
No Oil equals No mess. Plus the Airaid hardware allowed me to mount it up high under the hood, increasing my fording abilities. Keeping the System Simple aids to the product being purchasable by any shade-tree mechanic.
Thanks for affording me this chance to keeping the Jeeping Community informed.
    Keep the Shiny Side Up!!!

K&N is over rated. Based on the numbers, i would try the aFe. I had K&N on several trucks/jeeps, they were OK, nothing special.

I have put a Airaid system on many jeeps and tried a K&N and Airiad kicks butt cost less and there is no sweeter sound than opening your hood and hearing the power makeing howl of air being swallowed up in your rig. ohhh how sweet the sound and power to pound.

I actually owned both K&N and an Airaid for a 2010 JK 4DR. I returned the K&N, although I am a K&N fan, the Airaid is a superior product for this application hands down!

  • Jun 29 @ 18:39pmCHARLES GIALLANZA says:

K&N is the best I know of. I haven’t used many others but once you’ve switched to K&N, it’s hard to think of anything being any better, especially for an offroad rig. Anytime you think it might be getting a bit gummed up with too much dirt, you just clean it, oil it and you’re back in business. What more could you ask for?
