Jeep Differential & Drivetrain – Detroit by Eaton, ARB, & Auburn Gear Differentials
Comments 356
No matter what you want to change about your vehicle, chances are there’s a Jeep drivetrain part to suit your needs. Installing upgraded differentials and other drivetrain parts can offer a number of benefits including increased power, enhanced traction, impact resistance, oil capacity, and strength. This is your second to last chance to vote, so make it count. For the July vote, choose which Jeep differential you want installed on the Jeep JK: Detroit Differentials by Eaton, ARB, or Auburn Gear.
There’s a drivetrain part for just about any scenario. Did you add larger tires and now need to increase your power? A ring and pinion will do the job nicely. Or maybe you want to enhance your traction? Look to lockers for that extra bite. When you upgrade your axle shafts, the end result will be stronger Jeep parts that you won’t worry are going to shatter on you. Don’t forget enhanced differential covers to increase oil capacity and improve impact resistance. You can even get a little bit of all of the above plus some addition physical size by choosing an axle assembly.
Choose which Jeep drivetrain parts should be installed on the 2010 Jeep:
Detroit Truetrac Torque Biasing Differential & Rear Detroit Soft Locker
The unique operation characteristics and enhanced strength of the Detroit Differentials Truetrac limited slip makes it the ideal front axle traction device. This Jeep differential is guaranteed to never lock up on you. Driving in icy, muddy, or wet terrain presents the danger of wheel spin, but the Truetrac will split the torque so this doesn’t happen. We’re pairing this with the Detroit Differentials rear soft locker, which is built to take on severe off-road conditions.
Detroit Differentials Truetrac:
- Limited Slip
- Automatic Torque Biasing
- Clutchless Operation
- Use with 27 Spline Axles and 3.73 and up Gears
Detroit Differentials Soft Locker:
- Dana 44 Detroit Locker
- Automatic Locking
- Use with 3.73 and down Gear
ARB Front & Rear Air Lockers
Installing ARB air lockers in the front and rear actually converts the differential from a standard open style to a full spool type axle at the touch of a button. As a result, this pneumatic locking differential is able to use air to lock both axles and supply 100% power to both wheels, no matter how bad the terrain is. Best of all – you can control the ARB lockers from the inside of your Jeep with just the push of a button, though you will need to have an ARB onboard air compressor.
ARB Front Locker:
- Air Activated Selectable Locker
- Converts from Open Differential to Spool
- Push Button Operation
- Use with 27 Spline Axles and 3.73 and up Gears
ARB Rear Locker:
- Air Activated Selectable Locker
- Converts from Open Differential to Spool
- Push Button Operation
- Use with 30 Spline Axles and 3.73 and down Gears
Auburn Gear ECTED Electrically Activated Front & Rear Lockers
If you can’t decide on just one type of differential, Auburn Gear ECTED front and rear lockers are what you need. ECTED stands for Electronically Controlled Traction Enhancing Differential. This means that you can switch between limited slip and spool options on the fly just by flicking a switch. Unlike other options, these Auburn Gear lockers use currents that are sent to electromagnetic coils, which then create a magnetic field that gives you the solid axle assembly you desire.
Auburn Gear Front Locker:
- Can Shift Modes on the Fly
- Dana 30 Manual Locker
- Use with 27 Spline Axles and 3.73 and up Gears
Auburn Gear Rear Locker:
- Can Shift Modes on the Fly
- Dana 44 Manual Locker
- Use with 30 Spline Axles and 3.73 and down Gears
Plus, we’re going to install some great G2 Axle & Gear drivetrain components to complete the set:
- G2 Axle Front & Rear Ring & Pinion Sets: These G2 Axle ring and pinions are manufactured out of high quality gear steel that will hold up in the harshest of environments.
- G2 Axle Front & Rear Master Overhaul Kits: The easiest way to install the ring and pinion sets is with G2 Axle master overhaul kits. They include all the parts you’ll need.
- G2 Axle Front &Rear Differential Covers: These upgraded G2 Axle differential covers will both cool your oil and increase the strength of your housing.
About Detroit Differentials by Eaton: For years, Detroit Locker Differentials paved its own road in the off-road industry. Now that it’s under the Eaton umbrella, they’ve taken it to the next level.
About ARB: By taking their own vehicles off-road, ARB was able to discover the deficiencies in differentials currently on the market so they can make their own products that much better.
About Auburn Gear: Auburn Gear has been working hard for almost 60 years to provide the best design, development, testing, and manufacturing of differentials to all types of international industries.

I prefer the Detroit to get the job done. No, air leaks to chase, or electrical problems to worry about. on board air is nice but not to be linked to my lockers, just my preference.
