Jeep Lift Kits – Pro Comp, Rancho, & Rubicon Express Suspensions
Comments 528
As a quick preview, next month you guys will get to vote on your favorite set of tires & wheels to go on this Jeep. But before we put on those larger tires and wheels (which will be able to tackle those off-road terrains like no other), we’ve got to make sure that the Jeep is lifted and ready. For the March vote, choose which 1 of 3 great Jeep lift kits will raise this JK to new heights: Pro Comp, Rancho, or Rubicon Express.
Jeep lift kits are a must-have for your ride because they’re so multi-faceted. Lifting your Jeep will allow you to install larger tires and wheels, give you greater clearance over large off-road obstacles, and even level out the factory rake. This last benefit is especially important since we’ve already installed a heavy-duty Bestop bumper and WARN winch on the Jeep JK, both of which are heavy enough to increase the rake on the vehicle. But thanks to these lift kits the Jeep will be riding steady.
Choose which of these 3 great Jeep lift kits should go on the Jeep JK:
Pro Comp 4 Inch Stage 2 Lift Kit with MX6 Shocks
This is a complete bolt-on Jeep lift kit package that provides superior flexibility and improves ride quality. One of the best features is the ability to optimize your alignment with the adjustable length front upper arms. These Pro Comp lift kits also include front & rear sway bar links, bump stop extensions, brake line extension brackets, boxed control arms, and front/rear MX6 shocks.
- Lift Height: 4 inches
- Front/Rear Lift: Coil Springs
- Max Tire Size: 35×12.50
- Wheel Size Range: 15-20
Rancho 4 Inch Lift Kit with RS9000XL Shocks
Rancho uses something for their Jeep lift kits that is an industry first: rebuildable composite rod ends and patented high-articulation bushings. All of the components are powder-coated black (or red) for a sleek look and durability. Rancho lift kits include a forged pitman arm, adjustable upper arms, a front/rear track bar relocation bracket, and RS9000XL shocks.
- Lift Height: 4 inches
- Front/Rear Lift: Coil Springs
- Max Tire Size: 37×12.50
- Front Driveshaft Required
Rubicon Express Super-Flex 3.5 Inch Lift Kit with Mono-Tube Shocks
If you’re looking for a short arm suspension that retains the factory mounting locations, this Super-Flex Rubicon Express lift kit is for you. These Jeep lift kits include an HD adjustable front track bar, all four control arms (upper control arms are adjustable), front/rear stainless replacement brake lines, extended bump-stop brackets, and Mono-Tube shocks.
- Lift Height: 3.5 inches
- Max Tire Size: 35×12.50
- Super-Flex Spherical Ball Joints
- Replacement Lift Springs
Since we’re going to be lifting this Jeep, we want to add a little bit of extra protection to the bottom of the Jeep with Bestop Entry Guards. These great Jeep accessories will protect the entry area of the Jeep from scuffs and scratches. Plus, they install incredibly quickly thanks to a hidden adhesive strip.
About Pro Comp: Pro Comp first ventured into the off-road aftermarket industry with their top-of-the-line tires and wheels. Since then, they’ve established themselves with lift kits and other off-road accessories.
About Rancho: The Rancho RS9000XL shock participating in this month’s vote has been recognized by the off-road media for its innovation. 50 years of experience have gone into making these lift kits and shocks.
About Rubicon Express: With a staff full of Jeepers, Rubicon Express maintains a focus on their primary goal: to provide fellow Jeepers with the highest quality and greatest value in suspension systems.

I have had numerous lift kits on many of my vehicles in the past. Most of which I was happy with. However, when looking for a complete lift kit for my 82 CJ I stumbled across a company called Rubicon Express. Although they are a fairly new company founded, I believe back in 1996. I decided to give them a shot. About 4 years ago I installed Rubicon’s Extreme-DutyTM System 4.5″ lift on my 1982 CJ7. Best decision I ever made!! Rubicon nailed it.

The Rubicon, I can picture myself driving this Jeep and having a real blast! I never owned an SUV; family obligations meant I had to keep my dream of driving off-road in Canada and the US just that – a dream. It would make a huge difference in my life if I won this Rubicon!!!

One thing you got to realize here people is that with a JK Wrangler Bigger is not Better. The JK is great out of the box. That said, The 3.5″ Rubicon Express Kit is the only way to vote. One because it is 3.5″, the other is because it is quality. I’ve run a few of the kits made by RE on my Jeeps. The only company I prefer better is Old Man Emu. I’m not about what is fancy or cool, I’m about what functions and is well built.
Mar 30 @ 06:39ammaxine baskervill says:
Jeeps are neat. Not only are they practical, but for fun loving people, they’re great for enjoying the great out doors.
Mar 30 @ 06:41ammaxine baskervill says:
If I win the contest, I will take my jeep on a long trip trip through the rugged terrain of Western New York.
