Jeep Lights – KC HiLites, Hella, & Pro Comp

Comments 244 Jeep Lights – KC HiLites, Hella, & Pro Comp

Once you take it off-road, the only light to guide you comes from the sun and whatever Jeep lights you have installed on your vehicle. For the January vote, you get to choose between 3 of the top manufacturers of off-road lights: KC HiLites, Hella, and Pro Comp.

Having a more powerful set of lights is really important if you plan on off-roading or camping with your Jeep overnight. Heck, even if you don’t plan it, sometimes the daylight hours just get away from you and you find yourself riding home in the dark. For any of these situations, make sure you have proper driving lights to brighten up the areas where street lights don’t dare to tread.

You get to choose between 3 great brands of Jeep lights:

KC HiLites Long Range SlimLites

The feature that sets KC HiLites SlimLites apart from other Jeep lights is right in the name; their slim, flat profile allows you to mount them in areas where similar lights wouldn’t necessarily fit. But don’t think that you’re sacrificing power for a compact design. These are long range lights, which means they won’t necessarily cover as broad of an area but you will get a super strong, highly focused beam of light that will see far into the distance. Other features include:

  • 6″ Black Round Steel Housing
  • 130 Watt Halogen Bulbs
  • Optical Quality Glass Lenses
  • Two-Axis Mount for simple, accurate aiming
  • All necessary hardware
Hella 500 Driving Lights

Hella 500 driving lights are one of their most popular auxiliary lamp kits. This comes as no surprise when you realize what a great deal this light kit is. Everything about it is designed with off-road activity in mind. A lightweight design ensures you’re not putting too much extra weight on the bumper so you still have plenty of ground clearance. Plus, its sturdy shock-proof housing will hold up against all of the rough and tumble terrains you attack. Other features include:

  • 55 Watt Halogen Bulbs
  • High Impact Black ABS Housing
  • Aluminum Vapor-Coated Reflector
  • Upright Mounting Via Single Stud
Pro Comp Driving Lights

When you’re driving on the road, you can’t make your lights too bright because it will blind other drivers. When you’re off-roading, it’s the more light the better. That’s where Pro Comp driving lights come in. They actually increase the output of your high beams by 40%. This will really help you see any of the larger obstacles if you’re driving at night so you have plenty of maneuvering time. Other features include:

  • 100 Watt Quartz Halogen Bulbs
  • Slim Profile with All Glass Lens
  • Highly Polished Reflectors
  • High Impact ABS Housing

As a bonus to these off-road lights, we’ll also be installing a Bestop fuel door onto the Jeep. Not only are they incredibly sleek Jeep accessories, but they’ll also hold up to the nicks and bumps of off-roading much better than factory fuel doors.

About KC HiLites: KC HiLites is the original manufacturer of off-road lights. Today, they are still a dominant force in aftermarket lights for trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs.

About Hella: Hella has been providing high quality aftermarket lights to US consumers for over 25 years. Their consistent focus on innovation keeps them at the top of their game.

About Pro Comp: Pro Comp first ventured into the off-road aftermarket industry with their top-of-the-line tires and wheels. Since then, they’ve established themselves with lights and other off-road accessories.

We love KC Hy-lites and Day-liters, the only problem is they have bad seals and they rot out in 2 to 4 years.

You just can’t beat the beam pattern, sleek design to fit anywhere, and the brightness these KC lights put out. I planned on putting 5 on top of my light bar but two did the job superbly and I also have two driving lights up front to compliment my CJs headlights for fog and adverse weather.

I wood go with KC My dad had them on his 1975 RAM charger and my grandpa had them on his 75 jeep renegade so it was only natural that I put them on my jeep.I guess I keep the family tradition going and stick with what works. ;)

    Def KC’s

  • Jan 5 @ 21:41pmSid says:

I’ve been running KC’s since the mid-70’s, and I’ve never had a problem with any of them. I recently rebuilt four 150-watt Day Lighters with new rubber parts, and installed them on my JK. They do draw quite a bit of amps, but the light they provide is awesome!!

  • Jan 6 @ 07:11amVince Gonka says:

  • Jan 6 @ 18:14pmJosh says:

I think the KC lights will look best on the jeep! I like the slim design. Kc’s are also high quality.

  • Jan 6 @ 18:48pmCharles Sellers says:

    KC Highlites are the best!

  • Jan 6 @ 20:07pmBrian Greenlee says:

Had to say KC’s because that is what I have! I need to try the Hella’s because I have heard good things about the lower wattage lamps. I narrowed it down to the KC’s because of the aiming ability. I may replace the stock fog lamps with the HID when and if I think I would get to use them! I seem to be a DAY TRIPPER. A night run is in order just to play with some bright lights that weigh me down!! There will be that time we get hung up into the night, so when that night comes… LET THERE BE LIGHT!

  • Jan 7 @ 00:55amsteve says:

i selected pro comp, just because they worked in the past and they have good products other than wheels and tires.

  • Jan 7 @ 00:59amsherry says:

Best lights ever; easy to install, exceptional performance and most of all they are TOUGH! You can count on these lights to work when you need them.

  • Jan 7 @ 19:28pmCharles Rose says:

Hella 500 Driving Lites are my favorites

  • Jan 7 @ 19:45pmKenneth Barclay, Sr. says:

As I get older it gets harder for me to see clearly at night, so I’ll take any help I can get. And I think they will look great on my new jeep.

  • Jan 7 @ 21:43pmJon Port says:

KC Lites are the best, no doubts! Tough, reliable, easy to install and good looking to boot. I only wish all women were that way:-)

  • Jan 8 @ 17:27pmKC says:

  • Jan 8 @ 20:36pmMatt H says:

Have the Hellas on my CJ7 mounted on the windshield hinge brackets work great.

  • Jan 9 @ 02:38amTracy says:

KC Hi Lights…FAIL! I purchased a set of slim lights for my wrangler and they were toast within a couple weeks, KC’s and mud don’t go together. I called them and the rep simply said “we never claimed that they’re water proof” ouch! When it comes to my jeep, I want something that works as well as it looks. I’m going with the Pro Comps.

  • Jan 9 @ 03:17amnogas hemi says:

I have KC day lites on my 92 XJ safaria rack.Love them great lites>>>

  • Jan 9 @ 03:36amRudolph J. D'Angelico II says:

I chose KC lights due that I have been using them for right at 30 years now. Not one for change, If something works (and works great) why change?!!! KC lights all the way!!

  • Jan 9 @ 04:16amShawn says:

I miss my 86 CJ-7 (first year without her)! It had Hella lights that never failed. This is a great custom give-away! ~Shawn

  • Jan 9 @ 09:41amginericLC says:

I choose the KCs. I’ve never tried them but the grills would be better than the covers on the Hellas or lack of any protection on the Pro Comps. I have a set of the Pro Comps now and they are a decent light but one is cracked due to the lack of any protection.

  • Jan 9 @ 11:02amnathan campbell says:

KC lights would be my pick, since they are more of a long range light. I have had KC lights before and they worked Great.

  • Jan 9 @ 15:14pmdavid kearns says:

    Hella 500
