Jeep Lights – KC HiLites, Hella, & Pro Comp
Comments 244
Once you take it off-road, the only light to guide you comes from the sun and whatever Jeep lights you have installed on your vehicle. For the January vote, you get to choose between 3 of the top manufacturers of off-road lights: KC HiLites, Hella, and Pro Comp.
Having a more powerful set of lights is really important if you plan on off-roading or camping with your Jeep overnight. Heck, even if you don’t plan it, sometimes the daylight hours just get away from you and you find yourself riding home in the dark. For any of these situations, make sure you have proper driving lights to brighten up the areas where street lights don’t dare to tread.
You get to choose between 3 great brands of Jeep lights:
KC HiLites Long Range SlimLites
The feature that sets KC HiLites SlimLites apart from other Jeep lights is right in the name; their slim, flat profile allows you to mount them in areas where similar lights wouldn’t necessarily fit. But don’t think that you’re sacrificing power for a compact design. These are long range lights, which means they won’t necessarily cover as broad of an area but you will get a super strong, highly focused beam of light that will see far into the distance. Other features include:
- 6″ Black Round Steel Housing
- 130 Watt Halogen Bulbs
- Optical Quality Glass Lenses
- Two-Axis Mount for simple, accurate aiming
- All necessary hardware
Hella 500 Driving Lights
Hella 500 driving lights are one of their most popular auxiliary lamp kits. This comes as no surprise when you realize what a great deal this light kit is. Everything about it is designed with off-road activity in mind. A lightweight design ensures you’re not putting too much extra weight on the bumper so you still have plenty of ground clearance. Plus, its sturdy shock-proof housing will hold up against all of the rough and tumble terrains you attack. Other features include:
- 55 Watt Halogen Bulbs
- High Impact Black ABS Housing
- Aluminum Vapor-Coated Reflector
- Upright Mounting Via Single Stud
Pro Comp Driving Lights
When you’re driving on the road, you can’t make your lights too bright because it will blind other drivers. When you’re off-roading, it’s the more light the better. That’s where Pro Comp driving lights come in. They actually increase the output of your high beams by 40%. This will really help you see any of the larger obstacles if you’re driving at night so you have plenty of maneuvering time. Other features include:
- 100 Watt Quartz Halogen Bulbs
- Slim Profile with All Glass Lens
- Highly Polished Reflectors
- High Impact ABS Housing
As a bonus to these off-road lights, we’ll also be installing a Bestop fuel door onto the Jeep. Not only are they incredibly sleek Jeep accessories, but they’ll also hold up to the nicks and bumps of off-roading much better than factory fuel doors.
About KC HiLites: KC HiLites is the original manufacturer of off-road lights. Today, they are still a dominant force in aftermarket lights for trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs.
About Hella: Hella has been providing high quality aftermarket lights to US consumers for over 25 years. Their consistent focus on innovation keeps them at the top of their game.
About Pro Comp: Pro Comp first ventured into the off-road aftermarket industry with their top-of-the-line tires and wheels. Since then, they’ve established themselves with lights and other off-road accessories.

Pro Comp would be the best choice of the three. 100 watts of power. Not to much, not to little. Enough to light the areas of but not to much stress for your battery and charging system.

Pro Comp would be the best choice.

The Hella 500 is a great light plenty of light, but not to much reflection or light feed back. point one straight ahead and the other down some so you can see the path on a up hill climb after dark.
